This rustic mountain village has a charming and friendly atmosphere with traditional Swiss chalets and an old fashioned feel to the main streets. Champéry is the gateway to the massive Portes du Soleil and it extensive network of ski lifts. Overlooking Champéry are the 7 spectacular peaks of Les Dents du Midi which rival the Matterhorn in natural beauty.The sunny slopes of Champéry are part of the Portes du Soleil which link several resorts in France and Switzerland. The vast and differing amounts of terrain are suitable for all levels in particular confident intermediates that will enjoy discovering the entire area. Beginners are thrown in the deep end a little bit, with only a few learner slopes some of which can be steep. Away from the sunny slopes, on the Pas de Chavanette, the snow often goes untouched longer and there is great off-piste to be found for the expert skier.
