Killington - Introduction

Situated in the heart of Vermont, Killington is the biggest ski area in New England. Having the east's greatest natural snowfall it is one of the very first resorts to open each year and also one of the last to close. Killington is also a big party town with a variety of pulsating après ski action at the week ends. Intermediates will get the most from Killington with 40% of its trails designated for this level of skier but plenty of terrain for everybody across its 7 peaks, and 200 trails. There are six mountains connected by easy trails forming a total of 1,182 acres of tree-lined runs with 33 ski lifts. Three of the mountains, Snowdon, Killington and Skye, can be accessed from the base. Snowfall is reasonable for the east coast but Killington have made provisions for poor seasons with 70 percent of its slopes covered by snowmaking machines. The season is one of the longest in the USA, beginning in late October and continuing into June (snow permitting).
