Kirchberg - Introduction

Kirchberg is a small and friendly village set in the midst of Austria’s famous Kitzbühel Ski Circus area and just 6 km from the resort of Kitzbühel itself. The resort is a great location for a ski or snowboard holiday with a great selection of accommodation on offer, from bargain rooms to deluxe hotels. Popular with families and beginners, due to its fantastic range of gentle blue and red runs, Kirchberg also has much to entertain the more advanced skiers and snowboarders. The ski school caters for all abilities and most instructors are English speaking. A number of good quality restaurants and bars are on offer in resort, with Kitzbühel’s lively après ski just a short trip away.
Skiing
As part of the renowned Kitzbühel Ski Circus, Kirchberg enjoys an excellent ski area, which covers over 160km of piste. It is an excellent choice for all levels of skier, particularly those with a little bit of experience. It is a good place for beginners to make their first turns, but it is an area that is perhaps best suited to intermediates, both those looking to progress on easy blues and those looking to bag lots of km on a great selection of harder blues and reds. The area also has a few black runs for the more advanced to try and as your lift ticket covers Kitzbühel’s slopes as well, you can also try the World famous Hahnenkamm run.
Snowboarding
There are plenty of challenges, both on and off-piste (Guide required) in Kirchberg and Kitzbühel. Nearby Pengelstein is also popular. There the area as has a snow park and a half pipe for those looking to throw some shapes.
Ski Schools
The area has a number of ski schools, so you should be able to find something to suit your needs, whether it is a full week of personal tuition, a group lesson or just a quick refresher course.
Eating Out
Kirchberg has some pleasant friendly restaurants and a few more relaxed café style eateries. So whether you want a quick bite or a full evening’s dining you should be able to find something to satisfy. For more choice head to the bright lights of Kitzbühel.
Bars and clubs
The resort has its fair section of bars, from a relaxed setting where you can unwind with a glass of wine to lively drinking dens where you can ‘Flugel’ with the best of them. For even more nightlife head towards Kitzbühel where the party can start at around 3pm and continues for 12 hours or more.
Off the slopes
Away from the slopes and the nightlife there is still plenty to do in Kirchberg. You can have a go at ice skating or perhaps curling, take a sleigh ride or try your hand at bowling.
