LA PLAGNE - MONTALBERT - Introduction

Montalbert is a typical Savoyarde mountain resort, grown from a small village and maintaining its charm and atmosphere. Extensive snow making facilities mean that the skiing here is relatively snow sure and there are lovely tree lined slopes to explore close to the village. Since 2003, the nearby resort of Les Coches has been host to the Vanoise Express cable car which links La Plagne to the rest of the spectacular Paradiski ski domain, with access to over 425km of skiing.
Skiing
There is a wide range of varied terrain around La Plagne including woodland, glaciers and off piste powder fields offering something for all levels of skiers. Intermediates and beginners will enjoy the wide open pistes and stunning scenery and for the more advanced there are some steep, short blacks to attack. Closer to Montalbert there are a few nursery slopes for families and beginners to practice on and some picturesque runs through the trees down into the resort.
Snowboarding
There are great snowboarding opportunities throughout La Plagne, with amazing free-riding after a good snowfall. There are 4 snowparks to choose from in the area offering a good selection jumps, rails, half pipes ad kickers. Most of these are accompanied by sound systems and are great playgrounds for snowboarders of all abilities.
Ski Schools
The Ecole de Ski Francais ski school offers a great range of courses to suit all ages and abilities.
Eating Out
There is a good selection of restaurants to choose from in Montalbert catering for all tastes and budgets. There are some great pizzerias with some also specialising in traditional Savoyarde food.
Bars and clubs
The après-ski scene in Montalbert is quiet and there are just a few bars to choose from.
Off the slopes
There is plenty to do off the slopes from husky dog rides to snow shoe walks. For the more adventurous why not try the Olympic bobsleigh in La Plagne, shooting down the 1500m run in a 4 man bobsleigh.
