Leysin - Introduction

Leysin is a poular traditional Swiss resort perched up in the Léman region of the Swiss Alps, and forms part of the larger ski area of the Ski Circus including Les Diablerets, Villars and Les Mosses. The resort is famous for being 1 of only 4 resorts in Switzerland that have a revolving restaurant at the summit of the resort, providing breathtaking views of many of the tallest peaks such as Mont Blanc, and the Eiger.
Skiing
Leysin has a total of 60km’s of pistes and includes a great selection of runs for all levels for skier. The nursery slopes are conveniently close to the village, and the more challeging runs are to be found further up the mountain. Intermediate skiers and boarders will have a ball on the uncrowded blues and reds, which make up most of the open terrain. The surrounding resorts of Villars, Les Diablerets and Les Mosses are all accessible on the same lift-pass, giving access to a total of 125km of pistes.
Snowboarding
Fantastic freerider terrain and an ISF Pro Tour pipe make Leysin a popular resort for boarders.
Ski Schools
The Leysin Swiss Ski School offers a wide selection of different courses for all levels of skier and boarder. Both group and private lessons are available in all disciplines. Whether you have the wish to try the switch from Ski to Board or just want to sharpen up your carving, you will be made to feel comfortable with the friendly tuition available in Leysin.
Eating Out
Leysin has a fantastic selection of restaurants, serving everything from stomach-filling traditional Swiss cuisine to modern International dishes of all varieties, prices vary but there is ceratinly plenty of choice to suit all budgets.
Bars and clubs
The night life is relatively quiet in Leysin and there are only about 8 bars some of which are hotel bars or connected with restaurants. The Cable bar is certainly one of the livelier choices and attracts a young and international crowd. It is situated at the end of the slopes, down the main gondola. There are two mainnight spots, The Lynx and Le Seven.
Off the slopes
The resort has an ice-rink for skating and curling, a toboggan park and a cinema with English speaking films frequently shown.
