MERIBEL - Introduction

Resort Information MERIBEL
Méribel is located in the fabulous Trois Vallees ski domain, and is part of the largest ski area in the world. The resort is split between 2 main villages, Meribel (1450m) and Mottaret (1710m) altitude. Méribel boasts an enormous number of beautifully designed chalets and chalet style apartments while Mottaret is a slightly more purpose built resort with a great selection of modern style apartments and hotels. Both resorts are extremely popular with British skiers and boarders, and have a strangely British feel to them, so much so that even the locals speak in English.

Skiing

The skiing in Méribel is fantastic and is a haven for beginner and intermediate skiers with all runs leading back to the main lifts and centre of resort. The pistes are generally wide, gentle and very well groomed and the upper slopes are perfect for intermediate and advanced skiers to stretch their legs. Both Méribel and Mottaret offer a never ending choice of easily accessible off piste slopes that cater for advanced and budding intermediate skiers.

Snowboarding

Every level of boarder is catered for with gentle cruising runs for the beginners to the great snowboard park located on the upper slopes of Mottaret. The off piste offers endless opportunities, even for the daring intermediate!

Ski Schools

There is a great choice of ski schools available in Méribel and Mottaret and all offer a professional service with an array of different prices. SkiExtras recommend Magic Ski School and it is strongly recommended that you book your lessons well in advance of departure especially in the peak holiday period as they are often sold out. Lessons are strictly limited in size in order to guarantee quality and satisfaction.

Eating Out

Both Méribel and Mottaret have an enormous selection of restaurants and cafes to choose from serving both local Savoyarde cuisine and many other international dishes.

Bars and clubs

In Méribel the nightlife is particularly lively and offers many bars and clubs where you can really let your hair down after a hard days skiing. Some of the most lively and popular bars are Jacks, and Dick’s T Bar.

Off the slopes

Undoubtedly the prettiest village in Les Trois Vallees. Away from skiing in meribel you can enjoy the Casino in Brides Les Bains or simply relax at the Cinema in Méribel where English films are frequently shown.
