SAINT GERVAIS LES BAINS - Information

St. Gervais is a charming, handsome spa town, set in a narrow river gorge, dating back to the 19th century. The resort has more of a town feel to it, with its interesting food shops and bars, and also has an Olympic skating ink and thermal baths. Prices are a lot cheaper than the nearby resort of Megeve, whose slopes the town shares. In town, a rack-and-pinion railway will take guest to the slopes of Les Houches, opening up yet more pistes to the visitors, whilst in good conditions, it is possible to ski to and from Chamonix.St Gervais is part of the much larger Mont Blanc ski area, which consists of 3 ski areas, 125 ski lifts and 500 km of slopes, including the resorts of Megeve, Combloux, Les Contamines and Les Houches. Experts will enjoy the range of off-piste skiing, whilst intermediates enjoy brilliant runs if the snow cover is good. Finally beginners are probably the best served, as there is a good range of nursery slopes and long green runs.
