Snowmass - Introduction

Resort Information Snowmass

Snowmass is at the opposite end of the four mountains system to Aspen – only a 12 mile drive away, and with 5 times more skiing acreage, many find it more enjoyable and less intimidating than its infamous neighbour. With the highest vertical in the US, spread over four big peaks, there is lots of varied terrain for good skiers, as well as for families and easy going piste-bashers. Over 90% of the accommodation here is ski in/out, and the theme of Snowmass is that it is built for convenience rather than charm, but offers a great selection of good bars, shops and restaurants. Don’t forget you can fly into Aspen airport on United Airlines or Delta to avoid long transfers from Denver (approx. 4 hours). The 4 ski areas of Aspen / Snowmass are separate, with only Aspen Mountain and Snowmass, accessible from the town. The mountains can be split according to skiing ability; Aspen Highlands for advanced, Buttermilk for beginners, Aspen Mountain for strong intermediates and Snowmass, perfect for all abilities.
