St Johann in Tyrol - Introduction

The small, intimate and quaint town of St Johan in Tyrol stands in the shadow of the Kitzbuheler Horn and the Wilder Kaiser mountains. But don't be mistaken into thinking this is a sleepy backwater as St Johan has a buzzing vibe made up from the distinctly international flavour of its visitors. The skiing benefits from having an excellent snow record due to many north facing slopes and with a varying degree of terrain for all kinds of skiers. By purchasing an area lift pass, skiers gain access to 9 other resorts. The nightlife here is lively with many bars and several clubs and with over 50 restaurants there is always something for everyone to enjoy.
Skiing
St. Johann's skiing is on the more northerly face of the Kitzbüheler Horn, the ''snow side''. So the 60 kilometres of slopes are in excellent condition throughout a long season. Newcomers try their skill on the blue runs and experienced skiers have a mouth watering range of mainly red runs. A well-planned lift network, including super efficient gondolas, means no delays getting up the mountain. Skiers are also spoilt for choice with the number of mountain restaurants - 18 at the last count.Skiing area Kirchdorf: 4km runs, 2 skilifts; Skiing in Erpfendorf: 2km runs, 1 skilift;Ski passes (for 4-days and more) are now valid for 55 ski lifts and 170km of runs in the Schneewinkel area (St. Johann in Tirol/Oberndorf, Fieberbrunn, Pillersee, Waidring-Steinplatte, Reit im Winkl, Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf) at no extra charge. And the Kitzbühel Alps Ski Pass gives access to an incredible 704 kilometers of slopes serviced by 249 ski lifts.
Snowboarding
Snowboard fans will find in this splendid area a half-pipe at the ski lift Eichenhof and a funpark at Oberndorf.
Ski Schools
Ski schools are to be found in all 4 resorts, guaranteeing easy learning for beginners - right up to advanced skiers, as well as for Snowboarders and cross-country skiers. Children ski schools and ski-kindergartens, go out of their way for the young guests, to make the introduction to winter sports as much fun as possible
