VALMEINIER 1500 - Introduction

Valmeinier is set amongst the spectacular scenery of the Maurienne Valley. Linked with the resort of Valloire it gives access to an excellent ski area with varied terrain. This old attractive village has a purpose built resort centre which manages to keep an authentic French mountain village feel about it. It is extremely family friendly and is a cheaper alternative to larger mainstream resorts.
Skiing
Valmeinier and neighbouring Valloire have a wide variety of slopes for both the beginner and the intermediate to choose from. From nursery slopes at resort level, wide open and easy turning blues on the Gros Grey, to tree lined slopes on La Setaz. Experts may have to look a little harder for challenges although Crey du Quart in the Valmeinier valley has some good off-piste to be found.
Snowboarding
There is a snowpark located on the Crey du Quart, with jumps and a half pipe and good free riding opportunities on the extensive surrounding terrain. The wide slopes of Valloire are perfect for snowboarders.
Ski Schools
The Ecole du Ski Francais offers classes from 3 years upwards for all abilities and ages.
Eating Out
This family oriented resort has many dining out options offering great value for money. From pizzerias and créperies to local Savoyard specialities – all tastes and budgets are catered for.
Bars and clubs
The nightlife in Valmeinier is relaxed and there are a number of après-ski bars to frequent in Valmeinier 1800 and one nightclub, Le Brasilia, for the night owls.
Off the slopes
There is bowling alley, cinema and ice skating rink for those wanting to take a break from the slopes. For the more adventurous why not try some snow shoe walking or a torch light descent.
